Watermelon

Nothing says summer to me more than watermelon. Watermelon is a refreshing treat on its own and even great in salads, soups and cocktails.

Watermelon is loaded with nutrients and has tons of healthy and hydrating benefits. In fact, each bite contains about 92% water, as well as fiber and vitamins A and C. It’s also low in sugar and calories.

Eating watermelon can help you to reduce belly fat and lose weight. According to research from the University of Kentucky, eating watermelon improves lipid profiles and lowers fat accumulation, thanks to the fruit's high concentration of anthocyanin, a compound that calms the action of fat-storage genes and gives watermelon its signature hue.

Watermelon can also help reduce sore muscles.

Did you know watermelon seeds are healthy to eat too? They are full of proteins and healthy fats and minerals like zinc and magnesium.

I love adding watermelon to my summertime meals. Look out for watermelon recipes in my upcoming posts!
