I have always been very hard on myself, my worst critic, and have a hard time seeing my accomplishments. Prior to working with Susan, I was struggling with my activity level, my organizational skills at home, and running around with two busy kids, managing two different sports. It was very easy to grab take out on the way to a game, or just not eat at all because I thought I didn’t have time.
Susan helped me establish goals to work towards, gradually so they weren’t overwhelming, and showed me that small victories are just as important as big ones. I almost cried when, during our final session, she read to me a list of my NSVs (non-scale victories) that I should be proud of, and helped me realize that small changes every day really do add up!
Since working with her, I’ve become more cognizant of my eating habits, and am much better at keeping easy and healthy food choices on hand for when I’m on the go. Not just for me, but for my whole family. Meal prep is becoming part of my routine, and I use many of the delicious and healthy recipes she shared with me. I’ve also realized that I can apply the “small victories” theory to many areas of my life, the most important at this time being decluttering and making my house (my kitchen in particular) feel more like a home. I am truly grateful for her guidance, her desire to help me live a healthier life, and now, her friendship!

I have changed my eating habits in significant ways and have lost weight and feel great. Eliminated lots of unhealthy foods and am craving free! No sugar, dairy or caffeine but still plenty to eat. This is a great opportunity to learn how to change what you cook, eat, and crave. This is both do-able and sustainable. And Susan Sagan Levitan is a great coach. Just do it!
Thanks to Susan's guidance, I finally have control over my sweet tooth. By reading labels carefully and eliminating sugars cold turkey, I can look a dessert table in the eye, appreciate the variety of choices, and walk away without taking a bite. The transition is challenging but also rewarding. I feel good about my food choices, cook more creatively, and have reliable strategies for adhering to my food-related goals. I was eating a lot of sugar and feeling fatigue, joint pain, and bloating. I am approaching 50 and knew I needed to make changes to my eating. Susan is very approachable, makes learning how to eat clean approachable and I always felt like she was on the journey with me and was there for support. Within the first day of clean eating, the pain I had been feeling in my hips and knees was gone. I slept better, woke up feeling refreshed, and had more energy throughout the day. I am still trying to follow the suggestions to live a better, healthier life. I am so devoted to my workouts at Orangetheory, but wasn't always making the best food choices. I felt the jumpstart helped to align the two so I wasn't sabotaging a great workout by eating poorly. I have new recipes and food options and am super conscious of sugar now. I’m so much more mindful about what I put in my mouth. I’m also taking time for self care and that is so important- I feel like I wasn’t stopping before and focusing on positive thoughts and mindfulness.

The brain fog, the sluggishness and bloating literally diminished with the added bonus of decreased weight and inches. Great program! Doing the 10-day Jumpstart program with Susan has transformed my life. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but I’m very serious. I knew intellectually that eating as much sugar and as many carbs as I was doing was bad for my health. I had gone through a few attempts on my own to cut back, but nothing ever stuck for long. I heard about Susan’s program and looked into it further. She created her program for maximum accessibility and support. 10 days is a manageable amount of time, and Susan encourages participants to join a private Facebook group that really helps you though those 10 days. Each morning Susan posted about how we might be feeling, discussing the challenges and offering affirming words of support. She offered recipes and participants exchanged their own. Throughout, there were jokes and notes of support. It felt like a team effort, which helped us all get through it, I think.
The main hurdle in starting any kind of program, for me, is the first step. Susan is encouraging and knowledgeable, shared her own story in a straightforward way. I especially appreciated that she talked about her own struggles – she really is one of us, not some superhuman wellness guru. That said, Susan has strong expertise in nutrition and wellness; she is able to communicate in a way that first timers can easily grasp.
Susan prepared us very well for the Jumpstart program, with a summary of what we might expect, a shopping list, and recipes to help us plan. At the start of the program, Susan reminded us that this is not about deprivation or diet. I made the transition pretty easily, because of that understanding. I did feel absolutely horrible as I was detoxing, but came through that midweek. And Susan’s daily notes tracked exactly how I was feeling, which was fantastic.
3 weeks later, I can say that I feel SO much better that I may never go back to my prior way of eating. It’s actually worth it to me to give up my beloved coffee and croissant if I can enjoy this much energy, sleep this much better, and, by the way, lose weight without feeling oppressed by tiny portion sizes. I would not have expected it, but I really think I will be able to sustain this way of eating. Now I’m trying to expand it to how I cook for my family.
I can’t think Susan enough for offering the program, and supporting me and other participants so completely throughout and afterwards. More than anyone I’ve ever known, as a wellness coach Susan has a special gift, a unique blend of candor, knowledge and warmth. Susan was the first to volunteer to sweat test the latest workout, gear or studios for Fitness magazine. If you bought a pair of running sneakers that won our annual sneaker awards, Susan likely had put in the half marathon miles that got them our seal of approval. She also took part in the testing of the expert-designed workout and eating plans that Fitness published, doing all the weigh-ins and measurements with our trainers and even blogging about it online. I had definitely gained weight during COVID and was struggling to get it off. First and foremost I lost 5 lbs and a few inches off my waist which I was very happy about. Second, I lost my cravings to eat everything and anything (mostly sugary snacks) and third I am able to control myself more when it comes to food which has given me the motivation to keep it going! I thought the program was great! I loved all the resources and recipes and felt you were very supportive. I liked the daily messages and how each one focused on a different topic.
