WELCOME!

I’m so glad you’re here. I am Susan Sagan Levitan. I know how overwhelming, frustrating and challenging it can be for middle-aged women (and men) to lose the sudden, stubborn and unexpected weight gain that appears as we age. The struggle is real. In fact, 90% of women gain 10-15 pounds between the ages of 38 and 65—particularly in the belly.

I get it. The things you did before to take off weight just don’t work like they used to (at least long-term). It’s so difficult to know what to do, how to get started and to stay on track. The culture of cookie-cutter diets, conflicting dietary advice, sugar and junk food everywhere, and super-sized everything doesn’t help. And with stressors like the pandemic on top of everything else going on in your busy life, unwavering support is more important now than ever.

Whether you're frustrated with failed approaches, need some guidance and accountability, or are struggling to begin, I can help you!

For me, the beginning of middle-age coincided with a major life change— uprooting my family and leaving my first career (20+ years in the magazine industry in NYC). As I embraced my new chapter, suddenly what I was doing before to support my health wasn’t working anymore. Through a holistic lens, I created new healthy habits and positive change.

Based on my learnings from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and my own positive experience, I founded chapterU health coaching LLC. My mission is to help you get “unstuck”, like I have, and thrive in your next chapter-chapterU. I have developed an arsenal of coaching programs, centered around a unique holistic system, the chapterU System.  

The chapter U System:

  • EAT REAL FOODS (most of the time) to nourish and energize your unique body. No diets, deprivation, calorie counting or quick fixes

  • Apply a HOLISTIC approach and explore how all parts of your life connect to your health as a whole, with a focus on nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, sleep, self-care and self-acceptance

  • SMALL STEPS lead to BIG and LASTING CHANGE. Progress is perfection

  • Keep it SIMPLE

  • ON-GOING SUPPORT and ACCOUNTABILITY to increase your confidence and accelerate your success

I continue to use the same approach to manage my own health and have been able to maintain my weight and stay strong, confident and full of energy. I was even able to better cope through some recent life challenges —recovering from a serious injury and navigating the pandemic. (See “My Story”)

When I’m not health coaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two teenage baseball- loving sons and my dog Bobo. Wellness is infused into my life. I am a fitness fanatic, live an active and healthy lifestyle and serve on the Health & Wellness Council for our school district. I am a huge foodie and love travel, theatre, karaoke, Halloween and NYC. But, what I love most is people—from spending time with family and friends, to supporting clients to live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Susan helped support me to create a healthier lifestyle both personally and professionally. She provided me with great tips on healthy eating and managing stress and sleep.
